Psychotherapy

Knowledge is power.

Psychotherapy can be a deeply engaging experience of learning and discovery, whether it entails individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, or group therapy.

Regardless of format, the ultimate goal of psychotherapy is to gain knowledge — knowledge about the illness you are trying to manage; knowledge about better communication and conflict resolution with loved ones; knowledge about how to achieve balance and meaning in your life.

If you or your loved ones are struggling, consider this — Instead of staying passive, you can choose to be proactive.  Instead of waiting for crisis, you can take steps now to address the challenges.

Learn in psychotherapy.   Change the dynamic.

Hi. I’m Dr. Claire Corey.

I am glad you are here. If you have landed here because you want to learn, I can help. Over the past 20 years, I have worked with a wide range of patients in different settings. How I practice today is anchored in the fundamental principles of healing — self-efficacy, curiosity, and empowerment. Anyone can learn, and learning leads to change. Allow me to facilitate the process.

  • Empowerment Through Learning

Managing your mental health can be a challenge. If you feel demoralized due to a lack of progress, you may ask, “Why?” One possible reason is, you may not have had the opportunity to learn about the condition you’re trying to manage. Once you do, your progress could be exponential.

  • Mental Health Management

Yes, your mental health can be managed. Just as you would seek professional help with personal finance or legal matters, your overall health and well-being deserve equitable focus.

  • Asian Mental Health Advocacy

Stigma attached to mental illness can be especially prevalent among Asian communities. Generational conflicts, racial stereotypes, gender expectations, academic pressure, familial obligations, etc., may exacerbate any psychiatric conditions; yet, many Asian Americans consider mental health treatment as taboo. It is time to start the conversation.
